Educational Philosophy / Interests:

I believe it is important to have a holistic viewpoint when it comes to education. Academics may be the largest reason students are in school, but many different factors contribute to a students level of success such as the students social supports, home/school environment, mental health, physical health, culture, and potential behavioral choices. These (and others) are always important to consider when working with students. I also believe it is important to meet students where they are at as each student is unique in their own way. In working with students, staff, and families, one technique I often use (and encourage) is mindfulness which decreases anxiety and can assist one in being more focused and relaxed. I look forward to my continued work in making mindfulness more available on a regular basis to students and staff at Harwood Union.

Personal Interests:

Being outdoors (Hiking, Snowboarding, Running, Yoga, Kayaking/Canoeing, Camping), Crossfit, Reading (mostly memoirs), and Gluten-Free Cooking and Baking
