Follow up for Thursday and Friday, short term remote learning.

As shared earlier today by Superintendent Nease - there has been a positive COVID case at Harwood Middle/High School.  We are responding with an abundance of caution by transitioning to Online Learning for both Thursday, November 12th and Friday November 13th.

Harwood Middle/High School will follow the Short term schedule below while we are offsite.

Given this and the fact that our Black and Gold cohorts are at different places in their learning - staff should plan for:

  • asynchronous learning for the Black cohort as normal this Thursday - November 12th and Friday - November 13th

  • synchronous learning for the Gold cohort (see schedule below) on Thursday - November 12th and Friday - November 13th.

Online learning Schedule 9:00 - 9:20 Teaching Advisory

9:30 - 10:15Block 1

10:30 - 11:15 Block 2

11:30 - 12:15 Block 3

12:15 - 12:45 Lunch

12:45 - 1:30 Block 4

1:47 - 2:47 Office Hours

To this end please ensure:

  • gold cohort students have updated zoom links in their Google classrooms to access synchronous learning blocks during the times designated above.

  • black cohort students

    • receive a wellness check tomorrow.

    • have their asynchronous tasks in Google classrooms as usual.

Special Educators and Interventionists - Please send an email to students and their families if you have small group or 1-1 lessons normally scheduled synchronously on gold cohort days with a time and zoom link.

Given that conferences will be remote - staff should plan to hold them as scheduled.

Finally, we recognize the stress that comes with hearing that a member of our school community has tested positive for COVID-19.  During this time we want to encourage all of us to focus on taking the actions we have control of - specifically we can focus on remaining safe by:

  • being vigilant and remaining in

  • wearing masks (Double layer facial covering is required, Gaiters must also be double layer)

  • washing hands

  • staying home when sick

  • follow travel guidance

  • limit gatherings to no more than 10 people in your “normal” social circle

At Harwood we remain committed to providing our community with a safe and healthy environment as we maintain daily screenings, six feet physical distance and cleaning protocols.

Please respect the privacy of any affected individuals.   If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Meg, Laurie or Duane.

Please find resources below as we all consider how to support each other during this time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this time,

Meg, Duane and Laurie
