Harwood Union High School presents "Mary Poppins"

Harwood Union High School presents "Mary Poppins" during the first weekend of April. The musical, with music and lyrics by the Sherman Brothers with George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and script by Julian Fellowes, is based off of the books by P.L. Travers and the 1964 Disney film. The Broadway run ended in 2013 after 2,619 performances and since then has been produced by school, regional, and professional theatre companies world-wide.

The Harwood HS production features Emma Greenwood as Mary Poppins, Rex Rubinstein as Bert, with middle schoolers Wanda Sullivan and Abby Holter as Jane and Michael Banks respectively. Julia Loewer and Connor McCarty round out the Banks family and are supported by a cast of incredible young actors, singers, and dancers. The creative team includes Scott Weigand (director), Stefanie Weigand (music director), Mary Chudzik (choreographer), Kevin Kelly (technical director), and Chris Rivers (pit band conductor). The crew is made up of students who assist Mr. Kelly with the design and implementation of the beautiful set, including many "magical" pieces. The pit band is made up of both Harwood students and professional musicians from around the state.

Audiences of all ages will love the familiar songs like "Spoonful of Sugar", "Let's Go Fly a Kite", and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious", plus a few extra tricks the cast and crew have up their sleeves. Evening performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, April 5-7 at 7:30pm. The matinee on Saturday, April 7th at 1:30pm will include a pre-show demonstration by the pit band and a chance for our youngest audience members to go on stage after the show to see the set and meet the cast.

Tickets are available at the door for $10 Adults and $5 Students. There are no advance ticket sales.
