Four Harwood students in the Strategies for Classroom Dialogue Class facilitated a Harkness Dialogue at the Vermont Council on the Humanities Conference in Burlington on Saturday, Nov 19. The theme of the Conference was "The Double- Edged Sword of Technology." They did a fabulous job! There were over 200 people in attendance at the conference, and our students were the only high school participants!
OCTOBER 2, 2017 UPDATE A heartfelt THANK YOU from the students and staff at Harwood Union High School to everyone who donated to the Class of 2018 for the beautiful gazebo (below) which now adorns the Harwood school grounds as a tribute to our classmates Eli Brookens, Liam Hale, Mary Harris, Cyrus Zschau and our friend Janie Chase Cozzi, who we lost last year. Our fundraiser has now ended. We exceeded our goal and raised over $17,000, which we used to purchase the gazebo, make it wheelchair accessible, add landscaping and lighting, and maintain it. We are so grateful for the support and generosity of our extended community. You are a big part of what makes us Harwood Strong!
At the Open House on Thursday, September 14, Katherine Cadwell showed the video of her Rowland Fellowship work in which she is working to transform teaching and learning at the classroom level by employing student- driven inquiry. The film, entitled "Coming to the Table:Dialogue for Classroom Transformation" documents how teachers can move their classrooms from teacher-directed to teacher- facilitiated to student- driven classrooms. It features Harwood students learning from one another utilizing the " Harkness Table" methodology.
